Naked mole rats are unique in many ways. For one, they're the only mammals with a hive mind, obeying their queen as if they were ants. Also, they feel no pain, an adaptation still not fully understood. But most importantly for us, they are the only animals that don't get cancer.

And now, a new study by scientists at the University of Rochester, New York, explains at last why these horrific animals, of all of the world's creatures, are immune to cancer.

According to the scientists, the mole rat's cells express a gene that tells cells to stop dividing. The gene, called p16, forms a second ring of defense against cancer. Most mammals, including humans, only have one gene, p27, protecting cells from cancer. And while most cancers know a way around p27, p16 stops them cold.

In the experiment, researchers gave cancer to a mole rat cell. However, unlike similarly altered mouse cells, the cancerous mole rat cell didn't engage in the non-stop proliferation associated with cancer.

Naked mole rats were already known for their extreme longevity, living much longer than other similarly sized rodents. This was thought to result from their ability to massively slow down their metabolism during times of privation, but this immunity to cancer almost certainly also contributes to their long lifespans.

Some other mole rat facts: their lips are behind their front teeth, they breathe mostly through their skin, and acid doesn't really burn them. I don't know what planet these things are from, but if they're helping cure cancer, I'm glad they're here.

Linux can the most effective os system in the hands of someone who is more experienced. One of the best things about linux is the amount of ram it uses compare to windows, linux uses half as much ram. It is known for its customizing ability, besides that, unlike Windows or Apple, Linux is free and many people have updates for linux that are also free. That might be great and all, but is it good for gaming? Well its as good as Windows because you can download “Wine” which a program that allows you to play windows games on your Linux operating system. Linux is good alternative if you know what you are doing.

Wine is a free software application that aims to allow Unix-line computer operating systems to execute programs written for Microsoft Windows. Wine also provides a software library known as Winelib against which developers can compile Windows applications to help port them to Unix-like systems. Information processing

  Information processing can be may different things. Information processing can anything that is change (processing) of information in any way that is seen by the observer, an example could be.   Sorting shelfs of clothes that people see, that is information processing. It could also be as complicated as writing programs in codex that people see or use that is information processing. Information processing can be very useful, but only useful to those who have the instruments that are needed.

The problems with with information processing can be: if the people are too poor to afford things like computers which make life easy. In countries like Ethiopia many people  do not have food let alone have computers. So their life is not more easy because of the lack of money to get things like food or computers. So in this case computers, which have a lot to do with information processing makes peoples lives in Ethiopia even worse because its another thing that they do not have. It is up to you to decide if information processing is good or not, for me it is because I live in a good environment.

With some as useful as technology comes a problem for many under developed countries. We use things like “Face book, Twitter, and texting” so often we don't even notice. This is not true for all, because many third world countries have problems with this since they are poor technology is not available to them as much as it is for us. This causes major problems because then they are further behind in progress which add to them being a third world country.

Since people in third world countries like poor people with not many possessions cannot afford computers to communicate, like using the Internet to attain information. They are not aware of what is happening in the world like advancements in technology. Since communication is weakened they become shunned socially. Internet also provides with information which can be useful knowledge. It comes down to this question, “is technology useful?” , the answer is simple it is only if the environment is suited for technology, otherwise it is a demise.
